Dog Show? In Redding? An actual American Kennel Club (AKC) sanctioned dog show here in the Redding area? Yes!

The Shasta Kennel Club will be hosting an AKC sanctioned dog show. The show will be at the Shasta County Fairgrounds at 1890 Biggs St., Anderson, CA on March 12 – 15, 2020. Four days of All-breed conformation, Rally, Obedience, Fast CAT, Farm Dog Test and more.

The Shasta Kennel Club had previously held the dog shows in Gridley for many years but have now moved it back to Shasta County.

All-breed Conformation Dog Show

In conformation, the dogs are considered breeding stock and are required to be intact (not spayed or neutered). The dog’s size, proportions, bone structure, teeth, coat, musculature, and movements are evaluated.

At the show you will see some of the most beautiful dogs in one place. Handlers come from all over to show their dogs and you get to see a variety of breeds that maybe you wouldn’t normally get to see.

Rally & Obedience

It is always a pleasure to see a well obedient dog and watch them work. You can tell that the handlers put a lot of time in with their dogs. It is obvious the dogs are having a good time.

Fast CAT

The Fast CAT is a new venue for the AKC. Your dog is timed on a 100 yard dash and you are scored based on your dogs’ speed. This fun new event is open to all AKC breeds as well as Canine Partners.

AKC Farm Dog Certified Test 

The Farm Dog Certified test provides for a series of twelve exercises that represent situations a farm dog would encounter in a typical farm environment. The basic test requirements are to emphasize a dog’s ability of self-control, confidence and trust. These traits and foundational training are vital to a working farm dog. The FDC program provides an opportunity for all dogs to apply their basic training in a novel environment, demonstrating their natural capability and trainability to work in partnership with their human companions.
