One of the many great outdoor activities in the Redding CA area is houseboating on Shasta Lake. Lake Shasta is California’s largest reservoir, with 30,000, so there is plenty of room for boating of all kinds. There are quite a few marinas on the lake offering houseboat rentals as well as other services for boaters.
Bridge Bay Marina is the largest on the lake and has over 700 boat slips with around 100 houseboats for rent. Visitors can also rent ski boats, fishing boats, patio boats, and personal water craft. Bridge Bay is just a quick trip up I5 north of Redding, you can’t miss it on the left side of the freeway as you reach the lake. Shasta Marina at Packers Bay also rents houseboats as well as other watercraft. It’s a bit further up I5, about 19 miles north of Redding, watch for Exit 695 — O’Brien/Shasta Caverns Road after you cross the Pit River Bridge. Check their website for details at https://shastalake.net/
Silverthorn Resort is north east of Redding off Hwy 299 East. They rent houseboats, some smaller boats, and some Seados. They’re also about 19 miles from Redding. Check there website at https://silverthornresort.com/
The northern most marina is Anters Marina in Lakehead. You’ll take the second Lakehead exit off of I5 about 27 miles north of Redding. They rent houseboats and other types of smaller watercraft. Check out their website at http://www.shastalakevacations.com/
Jones Valley Resort is off Lakeshore Drive is about 17 miles north east of Redding off of Hwy 299 East. They rent houseboats, patio boats, and other smaller watercraft. Visit them at

Holiday Harbor is on the McCloud River Arm of Lake Shasta. Take the O’Brien/Shasta Cavern’s exit, again about 19 miles north of Redding. Their website is https://lakeshasta.com/ , they too rent houseboats and other smaller watercraft.
